Men’s Swimmer of the Week

 Jordan Crooks, Tennessee

Crooks, a sophomore from George Town, Cayman Islands, won a combined seven races last week to help lead the Vols to a pair of wins over No. 11 Georgia and Carson-Newman. Against the Bulldogs, Crooks touched the wall first in the 100 fly (45.71) and the 100 back (46.32). In addition, he swam the fly leg in the 200 medley relay (1:24.40/19.92) and the anchor leg in the 400 free relay (2:52.57/41.87). Against the Eagles, Crooks posted the top time in the 100 back (46.25), swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay (1:25.75/21.17) and swam the second leg of the winning 200 free relay (1:18.25/18.49).

Men’s Diver of the Week

Week 12: Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week Victor Povzner, Texas A&M

Povzner, a junior from Toronto, Ontario, swept the springboard events in the win over LSU. Povzner registered a final score of 385.95 on the 1-meter and 421.65 on the 3-meter.

Men’s Freshman of the Week

Week 12: Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week Gui Caribe, Tennessee

Caribe, a freshman from Salvador, Brazil, won a combined six events to help the Vols defeat No. 11 Georgia and Carson-Newman. Against Georgia, Caribe swept the sprint freestyles with a 19.30 in the 50 free and a 42.80 in the 100 free. He was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay (1:24.40/18.93 free Leg) and the 400 free relay (2:52.57/43.23 leadoff leg). Against Carson-Newman, Caribe swam the fly leg of the first-place 200 medley relay (1:25.75/20.78) and the leadoff leg of the first-place 200 free relay (1:18.25/19.35).

Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Week 12: Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week Kristen Stege, Tennessee

Stege, a senior from Naperville, Ill., won three individual events and posted the nation’s top time to help the Lady Vols win both of their meets against No. 15 Georgia and Carson-Newman. Swimming the mile for the first time this season, Stege clocked an NCAA-leading 15:57.01 effort in the 1650 free against Carson-Newman. She rounded out the meet against Carson-Newman with a 4:45.66 mark to win the 500 free. During Tennessee’s win against Georgia, Stege posted the top time in the 1000 free, touching the wall in 9:46.49.

Women’s Diver of the Week

Week 12: Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week Brooke Schultz, South Carolina

Schultz, a graduate student from Fayetteville, Ark., set a program record with her win on the 1-meter springboard vs. Davidson with a career-high score of 370.58. Schultz placed second on the 3-meter springboard with a final score of 395.85.

Women’s Freshman of the Week

Week 12: Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week Lydia Hanlon, Kentucky

Hanlon, a freshman from Tallahassee, Fla., won the 200 backstroke in the win over No. 6 Louisville with a time of 1:52.16, the 10th fastest time in the nation. Hanlon also earned two more podium finishes to contribute 14 points to the team score. She claimed second place in the 100 back (52.76) and swam the third leg of the third-place 400 free relay (3:19.59/49.76).
